Local gymnasts take gold
The gymnasts showed good progression throughout the season and a continual improvement in the quality of execution of their routines.
Two local trampolinists, Chiquita Bellingan and Dylan Humphries of the Edenvale-based Gym Masters Gymnasts Club, qualified for and represented South Africa in the annual Region 5 (formerly Zone VI) international competition for SADC countries.
The competition took place in Pretoria in December.
Chiquita Bellingan qualified in the Female Senior Double Mini Trampoline category and achieved a fifth place individually and winning gold with Team South Africa. Dylan Humphries participated in the Male Junior Euro Trampoline event and placed fourth individually and also won gold with Team South Africa.
The gymnasts showed good progression throughout the season and a continual improvement in the quality of execution of their routines.
This was due to the consistent and continued hard work throughout the year by the gymnasts and the trampoline coaching staff at the club, Dmitry Demianenko, Michelle Sharples and Alex Demianenko.
The gymnasts, both of whom reside in Edenvale and attend Edenglen Primary and High Schools, also receive Federation Colours for representing the SA Gymnastics Federation.
The gymnasts practice at the Highway Gardens Community Centre.
The clubs are currently taking new applications for the new season.
