Local striker dreams big

Leo moved to South Africa to study but the love of soccer has always been imprinted in him.

The Zimbabwe born striker and All Stars player Leo Mlambo said passion is the driving force in achieving his dreams.

Leo (26) started playing soccer at the age of 11 on the dusty streets of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Leo moved to South Africa to study but the love of soccer has always been imprinted in him.

The graphic design student said studying something not related to soccer does not mean he loves soccer less.

“I love soccer and would grab the opportunity with both hands if given the chance to play professionally,” said Leo.

The striker plays for the Kensington team, All Stars.

“It’s been six month since I joined the All Stars and it has been great because I get game time, which is important as a soccer player and keeping fit,” said Leo.

He looks up to players like Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

“I’m currently working hard and attending try-outs with the hope of getting signed by a PSL team,” said Leo.

His wish is to play for Orlando Pirates.

Leo said his parents have been supportive of his football and they encourage him to not give up on his dreams.

“My parents understand the passion I have for soccer and support me, but they also encourage me to have something to fall back on in case soccer does not work out,” said Leo.

Leo hopes to find a sports agent to assist him in getting signed up professionally.
