Local golfer secures spot in SA final

Mr Moodley managed to secure a spot in the top three as he finished third in his 6-10 handicap group on a nett score of 77.

An Edenvale golfer has claimed his position for the South African National Final in the 21st World Amateur Golfers Championship.

Mr Mishen Moodley displayed his skills at the Johannesburg regional elimination against some stiff competition.

Mr Moodley managed to secure a spot in the top three as he finished third in his 6-10 handicap group on a nett score of 77.

“The Johannesburg qualifier has set the ball in motion for an exciting elimination process for this year’s team SA selection.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for amateur golfers to showcase their talent in the world’s largest amateur golf tournament. We are looking forward to the SA National Final to see who will be representing South Africa as the defending champions at the 21st World Final in Turkey from November 27 to December 5,” said Mr Arthur Mzimela, of World Golf Events SA and team SA Captain.

The SA National Final will be played at the Selborne Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast from November 3 to 5.

The competition will be fierce to claim the one winning spot in each handicap group in order to qualify for the Team SA blazer and win an all expenses paid trip to the 21st World Final in Turkey next month.

Golfers will be competing against players from Durban and Cape Town.
