New sports director prepared to make star athletes

Sports director brings new vision for sports.

Eden College Lyndhurst is taking sport to a new level.

Mr Juan Swart has been appointed as the director of sport at Eden College.

He has a clear vision for sport in his department. Mr Swart has spent many years in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), where he specialised in sport and physical education after qualifying as a teacher in 1996.

He has completed many coaching courses in different codes of sport. His highest sport qualifications includes an IAAF level 2 (International Athletics) qualification and an IRB level 2 (International Rugby) qualification.

He has coached various sports as well as delivered many provincial and national athletics champions.

He also coached regional athletics teams as well as prepared the KZN athletics team for the South African Games.

Further achievements include one of Mr Swart’s athletes being placed fourth at the World Biathlon Championships.

He also trained an athlete who competed in the 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Championships in mountain biking.

His department at Eden College is in preparation of setting up a swimming school, soccer academy, golf academy, tennis academy, athletics academy and a rugby academy.

Among these are an Action Sports Arena that will host action soccer, netball and cricket.
