Bennies rower to represent SA

A grade 12 pupil at St Benedicts College was selected for the National Para-rowing squad.

Dylan Trollope, a grade 12 pupil at St Benedict’s College, was selected for the National Para-rowing squad last year and will represent SA at the World Rowing Championships.

He has been training with the squad throughout the school rowing season.

“This has been no easy task as he has had to juggle both his school rowing commitments, academics and national training,” said Darryn Roff.

In May, Dylan took part in the 9th International Para-Rowing Regatta hosted in Gavirate, Italy.

13 countries took part in this regatta and the South African crew, which Dylan was part of, placed second, winning the silver medal.

Dylan and his crew will continue with their preparations for the World Rowing Championships hosted in Aiguebelette, France, from August 30 to September 6.

This regatta will also be used as a qualification regatta for the Paralympics in Rio 2016.
