Runners geared up for Dis-Chem Half Marathon
Entries for the Dis-Chem Half Marathon have sold out before the official close off date.
The event takes to the streets on January 11.
The popular marathon offers an energetic kick-start to the annual running calendar.
Starting in Bedfordview, the marathon will this year take over the eastern suburb streets of Morninghill, Bedford Gardens and Primrose.
The route is quite a tester, especially in the second half.
After a relaxing, flat first 11 kilometres, the next seven kilometres keep climbing, but the reward at the 18 kilometre mark is a lively downhill sprint to the finish.
There is also the accompanying Rehidrat five kilometre dash on offer for those who are not quite ready for the tough half-marathon.
Entries for the five kilometre run are still available and will also be available on race-day.
Registration and goodie bag collections will take place at Dis-Chem in the Park Meadows Shopping Centre on January 9 from 9.30am to 5pm, or at Virgin Active, Bedfordview, on January 10 from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
Alternatively, registrations will be open from 5am on race-day at Virgin Active, Bedfordview.
Athletes are advised to arrive early as there will be severe traffic congestion before the event.
