Olympia FC draws against Germiston City

The team's determination was spurred on by their win against Bedfordview last week.

Germiston City took on Olympia, from Bedfordview, in the Eastern Local FA League fixture recently, at the Germiston Stadium.

After a humiliating league defeat at the hands of Olympia two weeks ago, the young Germiston side were determined not to come away from this match without a win.

The team’s determination was spurred on by their win against Bedfordview last week.

Their hopes were dashed, with the match ending in a goalless draw.

Despite the final score, this game up was anything but boring.

City played most of the game in Olympia’s half, with Olympia relying on the counter-attack to try to beat a resilient Germiston defence.

Keegan Mendes and Dembi Mayimela were on top form and were credited with being essential to City’s defence; they kept Olympia at bay for most of the match.

When the Olympia players did manage to pierce the Germiston defence, Brandon Greyling, City’s goalkeeper, was waiting.

In City’s other match played on the day, the reserves avenged their previous defeat by beating the Olympia reserve team 1-0.
