Rosado claims third IGT victory

Rosado was right behind Rourke van der Spuy, by one shot after a blistering 64 in the second round.

Portugal’s Antonio Rosado claimed his third IGT Tour victory in two months when he defeated Italian amateur Philip Geerts in a play-off for the IGT Series Modderfontein title on Wednesday, April 9.

The pair tied for the lead on 11-under-par 205 at the end of play after Rosado returned a 70, while Geerts reeled in an eagle and two birdies on the back nine for a five-under-par 67.

Rosado was right behind Rourke van der Spuy, by one shot after a blistering 64 in the second round.

He erased the deficit at the par-five first with an eagle, and took the lead when the overnight leader double-bogeyed the second.

Meanwhile KwaZulu-Natal’s Van der Spuy took third after a final round of 72, while Werner van Niekerk from Pretoria and American Brandon Taylor, both closed with 68 to share fourth on a nine-under-par 207.
