Scorpions’ sting overcomes Combination FC

Combination FC seemed to absorb the pressure well, opting to catch their opposition on the break. Both teams dished out entertaining football.

Doornfontein’s Scorpions FC had to fight to the end to walk away winners in their game against Combination FC from Jules.

The match was played at the Rhodes Park Sports Grounds on February 23. The Scorpions attacked from the first whistle, putting the Combination FC defence under constant pressure.

Combination FC seemed to absorb the pressure well, opting to catch their opposition on the break. Both teams dished out entertaining football.

Towards the break, Combination FC were starting to settle, playing a good passing game.

It was at the beginning of the second half when Scorpions FC netted their first goal, after a misunderstanding in the back four. The goal drew some protest from the Combination FC supporters, who thought the referee was being biased, but his decision was final. Combination FC seemed to be awakened by the goal they had conceded, pushing numbers forward, hoping to get an equaliser.

Scorpions FC made a late substitution, bringing in a defender for the striker, hoping to consolidate their lead. That seemed to work as they managed to hold onto their lead, winning 1-0.
