Invaders trump DareDevills

JDK Invaders faced the Bedfordview DareDevills in division one of the Bedfordview Last Man Stands (LMS) summer league.

The game was played at Elandspark School on Sunday, November 3.

The Bedfordview LMS league attracts players from Bedfordview and the surrounding areas, including, Kensington.

The DareDevills batted first and set up a score of 101 runs for the loss of five wickets after 20 overs.

JDK Invaders managed to reach 102 runs in just 14.2 overs for the loss of only three wickets.

The top scoring DareDevills batsmen were Darren van Tonder, who smashed 50 runs not out off 37 balls, and Rudi van der Westhuizen, who managed 13 runs not out off 26 balls.

Darren coupled his batting performance on the bowling crease when he took one wicket in three over for 13 runs.

Rudi also managed to take a wicket in his two overs which went for 13 runs.

In the JDK Invaders’ camp, P Venter lead the batting attack with 45 runs off 34 balls and took one wicket in four overs for 24 runs.

Fellow Invaders player, Roelf Langedyk, scored 31 runs off 25 balls and also featured in the team’s bowling attack when he took two wickets in four overs for 16 runs.

In other division one games over the weekend, the Cricket Gurus narrowly beat Gangnam Style by three runs, while the Big Hitter’s lost their game against the Green Mamba’s by three wickets.

Green Mamba’s went on to beat Got Cha by 15 runs in their next league game.

In division two, the Fool Tossers lost by 61 runs to the Bedfordview Rebles and RB smashed the ACS Hydromine DreamKillers to win by 26 runs.

The Tool Saders lost their game against Rockafellas SA by 30 runs, and the 69ers took on Seven 5 and lost by 31 runs.

Bedfordview Rebels also faced Old School 2 and won by 26 runs, while Rockafellas SA tied their weekend standings when they recorded a four wicket loss against Deadbeats.

In division three, the Wicket Wanabe’s beat Bracken Knight Riders by six wickets in just 14.2 overs, and Cricket Tanks beat the Toxic Bunnies by 34 runs.

The DP Boys faced the Young Lions and won their game by four wickets but were not so lucky when they took on Blood, Sweat and Brandy and lost by 94 runs.

The Young Lions recorded their second loss for the weekend against the Rubber Duckz who took victory by 56 runs.

The Rubber Duckz then went on to also beat the Bracken Knight Riders by 16 runs.
