Dolphins bring home the medals

The Mandeville Dolphins netted 24 individual medals at the Seagulls Short Course Winter Champs held recently.

The Mandeville Dolphins, based in Bez Valley, also brought back six relay medals.

The event was held at the Kings Park Swimming Pool, the home of national swimming coach Graham Hill and Olympian Chad le Clos, from September 21 to 23. Mandeville Dolphin swimmers found themselves among a number of swimmers from across South Africa.

Lize-Mari de Beer won three gold and two bronze medals. Tatum Peyerl won two gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal. Carly du Toit won a silver medal and

Ethan Roque won a gold, silver and bronze medal.

Sarah-Ann Bouwer won a bronze medal in the women’s open 100 metre backstroke in a time of 1:05.10 and Caitlin Bosma won a silver medal and two bronze medals.

Marjean Kupfer won two bronze medals and Peter Buckle won a bronze in the boy’s 50 metre butterfly.

Marizel van Jaarsveld won two bronze medals and Matthew Alexander won a bronze medal in the boy’s U/15 to 16 100 metre breaststroke.

The Mandeville men’s relay team of Daniel Sanchez, Kyle van Rensburg, Matthew Hancock and Geo Louw, won bronze in the open 200 metre medley relay.

The girls 15 and under 200 metre freestyle relay team of Marizel van Jaarsveld, Daniela Passoni, Carly du Toit and Caitlin Bosma won silver in the event.

The boys relay team of Ethan Roque, Dane Rampini, Clayton Pheiffer and Devon van der Westhuizen won bronze in the boy’s 15 and under 200 metre freestyle relay.

The Mandeville Dolphins men’s relay team of Geo Louw, Keanan Naidoo, Gareth Baker and Kyle van Rensburg won bronze in the men’s open 200 meter freestyle relay. The girls 13 and under relay team of Shasta Swan, Tatum Peyerl, Kelly-Rayne Dunbar and Lize-Mari de Beer won silver in the 200 metre medley relay.

The boys 15 and under relay team of Ethan Roque, Devon van der Westhuizen, Marcel Laurent and Clayton Pheiffer won bronze in the 200 metre medley relay.
