Rand Aid wins at golf day

A full field of 120 golfers took to the Modderfontein Golf Course on September 27, for Rand Aid Association’s annual golf day.

The winning fourball was the team consisting of Mark Frank, Stuart Hurter, Gordon Yeo and Gerald Tuffer of Chartered Insurance Brokers.

Second place was taken by Doug Payne, Andrew Barayany, Craig Sharp and Dion de Jong of Southwest Greens.

Third place went to the team of Karl Jaacks, Manno Sequeira, Rob Jackson and Ryan Hill of Servest Landscaping. Fourth place went to the team of Rob Cowling, Anton Heyns, Dominic Mitchell and Robin Kohl of Sheer Sound.

Nearest the pin (hole 3) was Michael Jeffery of Automatic Printing Press and the longest drive (hole 10) award went to Doug Payne of Southwest Greens.

“Rand Aid supports around 800 people through our Social React division. Providing for their food, accommodation and other needs equates to a total Rand Aid welfare shortfall of around R10-million annually,” said Rand Aid CEO, Mr Rae Brown. He added that the contribution from the golf day is welcomed as every penny that goes to Rand Aid helps the organisation meet its ongoing obligations.

Mr Brown thanked the anchor sponsors, Investec and Servest, the hole and prize sponsors and the golfers themselves, for their part in making the annual fundraiser a success.
