BMX rider competes abroad

Edenvale BMX rider, Jaden Laubscher, was recently selected to represent South Africa as a Junior Elite rider at the 2013 UCI World BMX Championships.

The championships will be held in Auckland, New Zealand on July 26.
Jaden will leave on July 19 to compete against the top 64 riders from around the world. He and Alex Linberg will compete in the same category. They will accompany the rest of the South African team of 20 riders.
Before Jaden and Alex leave for New Zealand, they will travel to Copenhagen, Denmark to train and prepare. There, they will participate in nine high intensity training days and race against Europe’s best.
Jaden also competed in the Grand Nationals in KwaZulu-Natal at the end of June and hoped to improve his ranking. He is currently ranked third in the country overall.
Jaden is part of Team Supercross X-Treme Balance and is the team leader of seven other team mates who all compete in various other categories.
X-Treme Balance is a new form of push bike racing recently launched in the country. The mini bikes have no pedals and help with the fundamentals of balance and co-ordination.
