Five acrobatic dancers from Mi Amor Dance Company competed in the Acrobatic Solo Dance Sport Association National Championships where they excelled.
The championships were held from July 24 to 27.
Of the group of dancers, three were awarded their national colours.
To qualify the dancers Akira Habib, Tianna Machet, Khaleesi Roux, Aaron Morello and Makenzie Freitas competed in regionals, districts and inter-districts to receive a qualifying score.

Jenna Gillingham, director of Mi Amor Dance Company, said each dancer needed to be in the top 10 of each level to be a member of the Gauteng team.
“Their hard work paid off as all five of them placed in the top five in their levels. This is outstanding as most levels had up to 50 dancers competing against each other,” said Gillingham.
She said only the top three in each level received their national colours.
“Well done to Tianna Machet, Khaleesi Roux and Makenzie Freitas for achieving this,” said Gillingham.
Results are as follows:
• Akira Habib, level four, competed in the 11 years and over age group and placed fifth.
• Tianna Machet, elite level, competed in the 16 years and older age group where she attained second place.
• Khaleesi Roux, level one, competed in the eight years and under age group and placed first in her section out of 44 competitors.
Aaron Morello, level one, competed in the eight years and under age group and took fourth position out of 44 competitors.
Makenzie Freitas, level one, competed in the six years and under age group and placed third out of 37 competitors.
