Edenvale karateka excels at Karate South Africa championships

Cristiano Coelho received his national colours for karate at the KSA 2024 Awards Dinner.

Edenvale karateka Cristiano Coelho competed at the Karate South Africa (KSA) Open Championships, where he excelled.

At the July 19 championships held in Durban, Coelho attained a gold medal in kata in the boys’ 12- to 13-year-old age group.

Coelho also received his national colours for karate at the KSA 2024 Awards Dinner.

He was also selected to represent SA at the 11th Commonwealth Karate Championships later in the year.

Through the course of the year, Coelho has achieved several results.

These include a gold medal in kata and a silver for kumite at the Ekurhuleni trials, a silver for kata at the Gauteng trials, a bronze for kata at the KSA League One and a gold at the Karate South Africa Open Championships.

Coelho also represented SA in June at the African Karate Federation Region South Southern African Championships in Namibia.
