The team of Ana Kim, Mamantsa Mokgele, Michelle Singh and Phindi Gila claimed the July honours when they won the Ekurhuleni Senior Women’s Golf (ESWG) monthly competition at Serengeti Golf and Country Estate on July 4.
The four claimed the bragging rights for this month after they accumulated 92 points to beat a full field.
Noreen Hughes, Jess Tichy, Tilly Nkosi and Ria Joubert finished on 91 points to settle for the runner-up spot and Colleen Pike, Tania du Preez, Wilanda Mostert and Louise du Preez rounded up the podium after scoring 87 points for third place.

The ESWG chairperson, Charmaine Stone, thanked the ladies for a good competition, adding she was looking forward to seeing them again next month.

The Benoni Lake Club will host the eighth leg of the competition on August 7. The short-gun is at 08:30 and the green and competition fees are R120 and R40, respectively.

National championships outcomes
Stone, who was re-elected ESWG president at their AGM in April, was elected to serve on the Senior Women’s Golf South Africa (SWGSA) national governing board following the conclusion of the 29th national championships in East London, in May.
“It’s a great honour,” she said.
The organisation was represented by 18 players in the competition.
Lezette Vermaak, Leslie Nienaber and Stone finished in the top 20 in the A division.
Sue Baugh, Lynda Smit and Bev Kroutz were in the top 30 in the B division and Salie Morgan, Noreen Hughes and Sonja Louw finished in the top 20 in the C division, while Carol Allers was in the top 15 in the D division.
“The matches were played at Westbank Golf Course and East London Golf Club. The ladies did well considering their difficulties,” said Stone.
