Family victory for Edenvale Bowling Club

Edenvale Bowling Club recently hosted the club pairs men’s and ladies’ semi finals.

The event was held at the the club on March 10.

According to Edenvale Bowling Club committee member Raymond Pieters, this year’s finals will going to go down in the history books as one of the best ever contested.

Despite the surnames of the victors seeming like a misprint, Pieters said it was a day of family success.

The winners were:

Men: Martin Muller and Francois Brown.

Ladies: Elaine Muller and Sue Brown.

Martin and Francois teamed up to beat Matthews Phiri and Gordon May 18-16.

Elaine and Sue Brown teamed up to beat Joyce Wilkinson and Wendy Beck 13-12.

“The scores are a reflection of the competitiveness and high standard of the finals, right down to the wire,” said Pieters.

Pieters said that Edenvale Bowling Club is a premier bowling club in Ekurhuleni.

Winners of the men’s category were Edenvale Bowling Club members Francois Brown and Martin Muller.

“It holds many awards including five club of the year awards, which it won during the past 10 years.”

The club welcomes new members, novices, experienced bowlers as well as social members.

It offers free coaching lessons by experienced and qualified coaches on Saturday mornings for anyone, irrespective of gender or age, who would like to try their hand at bowls.

“It is quite possibly the only sport where anyone can compete on equal terms irrespective of age or gender,” said Pieters.

The club has facilities for hosting fun and corporate days as well as a variety of functions.
