Coach Sensei Jesse Sim said the academy was proud of their achievements.

“At the end of 2023, the dojo members earned their place in the Ekurhuleni all-styles team by achieving a top-four position in their division at the Ekurhuleni karate trials.

“This meant that they had to spend their December break keeping up their fitness and preparations for the trials.”

Sim said although this this takes great discipline and sacrifice, each karateka persevered and the results spoke for themselves.

He said all 12 athletes from the dojo made the Gauteng team and will compete at the Karate South Africa national all-styles championships in April.

“This is an important event, as selections for the Southern African Region South Karate Championships will be based on their performances at the national tournament,” said Sim.

“Our athletes are expected to do well there.”
