In a captivating OBC Ubungani Cup Final, sponsored by OBC Butchery, Kafue Celtic FC emerged victorious over Mamelodi Sundowns in a thrilling penalty shootout.
The U20 invitational tournament, supported by Manjoh, ITV Media, and SuperSport Schools App, showcased exceptional talent, fierce competition, and an electrifying atmosphere throughout its duration.
Hosted by the Balderstone Sports Institute Football Academy in Modderfontein, the event commenced on December 1 to 3.

This year’s participants were BSI Football Academy, SuperSport United FC, Mamelodi Sundowns FC, Orlando Pirates FC, The University of Johannesburg, Moroka Swallows FC, Norkem Park High School and defending champions as well as winners Kafue Celtic from Zambia.
BSI head of marketing, Roger King said the tournament has carved a niche for itself in promoting youth football development.
“OBC Butchery’s commitment to supporting grassroots football aligns seamlessly with the tournament’s goals, creating a synergy that contributes significantly to the growth of the sport at youth level.
“The OBC Ubungani Cup attracted a stellar line-up of teams captivating fans with its intensity and skilful play.
“In a true testament to the competitive spirit of the tournament, the defending champions, Kafue Celtic FC, and Mamelodi Sundowns FC battled to a 1-1 draw in regular time,” explained King.
The subsequent penalty shootout saw Kafue Celtic FC emerge victorious, securing their second consecutive OBC Ubungani Cup title.

Adding to the excitement of the event, the player of the tournament received a prestigious award—a Wolves FC first-team jersey.
This honour was presented by Wolves FC coaches currently in South Africa, conducting a soccer camp at the BSI Football Academy.
