Edenvale boxers land victory at tournament

Knapp’s record now stands at 16-1-1 with 11 knockouts.

Edenvale boxers excelled in the ring at the Peril@The Palace Box and Dine Tournament on March 18.

Roarke Knapp had his work cut out for him when he faced former European and French champion, Ahmed El Mousaoul in the headline bout.

The rising South African boxing star, boxing in white trunks, was up to the task and took the fight to the experienced 32-year-old Frenchman in red trunks.

The local fighter secured a unanimous points decision victory after an entertaining 10-round international junior middleweight bout.

Knapp’s record now stands at 16-1-1 with 11 knockouts which will please his trainer, Vusi Mtolo, at the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale.

Malajika, who boxes from the Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy in Edenvale, started this junior bantamweight bout, scheduled for 10 rounds, strong.

He kept jabbing away at the Filipino before a combination of punches sent the latter to the canvas in the fifth round.

While Lerasan got up, it wasn’t long before he indicated to the referee he was done.

The fight was stopped after 2:49 in the fifth round, with Malajika taking his record to 11-2 with nine knockouts.
