Letter: Germiston reader responds to Hani’s widow

“I do not believe at his age, after 30 years, Walus, in his new-found freedom, would be senile enough to want to commit another murder.”

Editor – With reference to the article in the Germiston City News on April 21, I would like to comment as a citizen of Germiston and South Africa.

I disagree with some of the statements made by Limpho Hani.

The two arrested, convicted and sentenced murderers, Clive Derby-Lewis and Janusz Walus, have served their sentences proclaimed by the democratic judiciary system of SA.

Therefore, I do not believe at his age, after 30 years, Walus, in his new-found freedom, would be senile enough to want to commit another murder.

However, I emphatically believe that the government and all concerned departments should be committed to solving the many other murders, rapes and gender-based violence crimes against innocent persons.

Many other families have not reached closure due to these unsolved, violent crimes.

Mrs Hani did.

The convicted perpetrators are known to all.
