Covid-19 lockdown: SANDF soldier shares words of wisdom with SA

"The presence of us, the SANDF, in your neighborhood is to assist citizens in the fight against this gruesome pandemic."

EDITOR – The lockdown is meant to slow down or possibly stop the rate of Covid-19 infection, which will help our medical institutions not be overwhelmed and enable our medical professionals to provide citizens with the proper medical care.

The presence of us, the SANDF, in your neighborhood is to assist citizens in the fight against this gruesome pandemic.

We are devoted to spending days and nights outside as well as weekends and holidays away from our families to ensure we fight and win this battle together.

No battle was ever easy.

All we ask from you is to be our support structure as we fight on the frontline by just staying in the comfort of your home with your families and let us face the harsh conditions of the outdoors.

Don’t worry about us, we are trained to work in the worst conditions.

The 21 days can be a sweet victory if we stand together with a common goal of conquering this pandemic as patriotic South Africans.

Remember, safety is every citizen’s responsibility and we will be very glad not to use our vehicles to remove the bodies of our citizens.

D Khumalo, soldier

South African National Defence Force.
