Thumbs up for Lakeside Post Office

Initially, we received some mail from SA but there were lengthy delays between the date of posting and the date of receipt in France.

EDITOR – I refer to the letter published on June 27 regarding postal services.

There is good news regarding the postal service at Lakeside Village in Modderfontein.

My wife and I were away from South Africa, in France, for eight years and only returned on July 4.

At first, we thought we were getting much better service in France but we still experienced similar problems we had faced in SA.

We received some mail from SA but there were lengthy delays between the date of posting and the date of receipt in France.

We did not know whether the culprits were South African or French.

The French postal service completely ignored our complaints when letters or parcels correctly addressed to us were mislaid.

There was a fly fishing reel addressed to us from SA, it was automatically marked to be returned to SA.

Luckily we were helped by a French postal worker who removed the reel from the storage office and brought it to us in person.

Totally contrary to normal procedure.

As readers of Time Magazine, all our issues were delivered to SA.

It looks like there must have been some very reliable people in the SA Post Office handling our magazines.

They made sure that none of our Time mags went missing.
