More grass than pavement

The brickwork obviously incurred great cost to rate payers at the time it was laid and is now being completely destroyed.

EDITOR – It is most disturbing to see the few pavements which have in the past been well bricked, now being totally overtaken by weeds and grass.

In some instances, these pavements are obliterated altogether.

Today (May 3) I watched a municipal employee who was tasked with cutting pavement grass, cut the grass covering the brickwork.

This has been the practice for some time now.

The pavements I refer to run along First Avenue past the police station, the two high schools’ entrances down to Bloukom Avenue.

These are pavements that are well used by pedestrians, scholars and runners.

The bricked parking area alongside Cork Avenue in Marais Steyn Park is also being enveloped by veld grass.

No doubt this is the situation elsewhere in Edenvale as well.

The brickwork obviously incurred a great cost to ratepayers at the time it was laid and is now being completely destroyed.

There is no evidence of any weed killer being applied.

Once again more waste and another sad contribution to the general deterioration of Edenvale.

Yours faithfully,

Alana Campbell.
