Shocked at treatment of street vendors

The EMPD should be ashamed of their actions.

EDITOR – I was deeply shocked and saddened to read the article about the vendors on Aitken Road whose possessions were set alight.

These poor men are doing their best to earn an honest living, and unlike the windscreen washers at Greenstone they do not pose a nuisance or threat to the community.

The EMPD should be ashamed of their actions.

Would they [the EMPD] rather have these people breaking into our homes and resorting to crime in order to live?

Burning their property, really? Isn’t that similar to apartheid gangsterism?

Whenever the EMPD feature in the news because of their bullying tactics, the response is always that the matter will be investigated, but we never hear the outcome.

Is this the democracy that our parents voted for in 1994? I should hope not.
