Chairperson expresses gratitude

JOBURG – Without the break, the fire could have had wider consequences,

EDITOR – Just a note to say “a big thank you” for the excellent work undertaken by the City Parks team who facilitated and cut the fire break on the Observatory Ridge Park.

This park is where the historical Indian Monument is located and is adjacent to properties of SAASTA; SANDF; Telcom; Gender Links and a significant number of residential homes.

Apart from the professionalism and responsiveness of the staff that the community interacted with and the quality of the work, there is little doubt that the fire break considerably contributed to the management of a recent fire on this ridge.

Without the break, the fire could have had wider consequences. It is hoped the staff will be informed of this compliment, as far too often communities do not acknowledge what is positive.

It is also hoped the MMC can be made aware of this letter and the contribution City Parks consistently makes towards the overall positive visual image of the City, despite all the challenges they face.

Keith Peacock,

Chairperson of Urania Village Residents Association.
