Mother urges more residents to get involved

The tip off for the raid came from residents who had noticed drug activity in the area and reported it, this is a wonderful example of how we can make a difference by working with the SAPS.

EDITOR – It was heartening to read about the recent drug bust done by the Edenvale SAPS crime prevention unit, featured on the front page of the Bedfordview and Edenvale News.

Unfortunately we were not able to see the faces of those arrested, as they had not yet been charged. Once they have been charged, it may be a good idea to have posters of their faces distributed widely in the area warning people to be on the look-out for these men should they ever return to the area.

The tip off for the raid came from residents who had noticed drug activity in the area and reported it; this is a wonderful example of how we can make a difference by working with the SAPS.

As a community, if we can stand together and do whatever we can to assist in putting a stop to the drug trafficking in Edenvale, we will have a far safer town for our youngsters to grow up in. I encourage everybody who lives in Edenvale to find out how they can get actively involved.

It makes no sense why a tiny percentage of the population, such as drug dealers, should hold the much larger group of law abiding residents hostage to the very real threat of drugs being freely sold to youngsters on almost every street corner.

The police are doing a wonderful job and now we too need to do whatever we can to clean up our town.
