Vagrant concerns resident

This man killed a car guard in front of Jet on December 22.

EDITOR – I would like to express my concern over the troublesome homeless man who goes around Edenvale beating people with an iron bar.

This man killed a car guard in front of Jet on December 22.

As I write this letter, in front of me there is a bleeding man who has been hit by the same homeless man.

Will he continue staying among us?

He was arrested and released because he looks and acts mentally disturbed.

Will the police try and take him to a hospital which caters for such people.

WORRIED

EDENVALE

EDITOR’S COMMENT – The manager for the Edenvale City Improvement District (ECID), Mrs Linda McKenzie, commented as follows:

The man was arrested by the SAPS on December 22 and charged with murder.

Due to his mental illness, the man was taken to court immediately and the judge referred him to a mental institution.

The incident of a second attack was not reported to the Edenvale SAPS.

The ECID management is currently working with social services to remove the vagrants in Edenvale, especially those who are violent.

We have found that many of the vagrants drink methylated spirits and sniff glue, which makes them aggressive.

Any residents or business owner who may encounter an aggressive vagrant is asked to contact the ECID offices immediately on 083 973 7093.
