SPCA thanks community, NEWS

EDITOR - I would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks for all your support, all year round.

Without your continuous help, we would never be able to engage our community as we do.

From the staff, the committee and the animals at the SPCA, we are truly grateful.

The Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA runs at a huge loss every month, despite our best efforts to cut costs and streamline our activities.

Despite this, we continue to serve all the animals in our community, reaching out to the indigent, and investigating cruelty complaints timeously.

Our savings account is drying up fast, and we desperately need to find ways to raise the funds required to allow us to continue serving our community.

Our little second hand shop helps us a lot to raise funds, but currently we are only able to open intermittently, when kind volunteers offer to work in our shop. Ideally, we would like to open the shop every morning from 9am to 1pm.

Anyone who is able to offer their time one morning a week can contact Sheila Menney on sheilamenney@mweb.co.za or 072 203 1086.

We are in the process of renovating our garage into a book shop, which we hope will raise some of the funding so desperately needed.

Anyone who is able to donate wood for shelving, brackets to hold the shelves, undercoat, paint, sandpaper, paint brushes, or your time to help us complete this task, we would be truly grateful. .

We, at the Bedfordview and Germiston SPCA, are grateful to our awesome community that supports us throughout the year, enabling us to save thousands of animals from harm and prevent cruelty.

We are extremely short-staffed, and do not always get to send individual thank you notes.

If you have donated to the SPCA and have not received a note of thanks, please do not feel that your donation has gone unnoticed or is not appreciated.

We are truly, truly grateful for every cent or item that has been given to us so generously.

We would also like to extend a big thank you to the kind-hearted individuals that donated so generously towards our Christmas Cheer Fund.

Every cent counts to us, and December was particularly difficult for us with the flood of abandoned and neglected animals.

Times are tough.

So to every person that gave their hard-earned money to our plight, we are truly grateful.

MICHELLE FALGATE

CHAIRPERSON SPCA BEDFORDVIEW & GERMISTON
