Friends thank volunteers, sponsors

The number of volunteers who came down during the course of the day to contribute their efforts far exceeded our expectations.

EDITOR – The Horwood’s Farm Mandela 67 minute family day on July 20 was a great success and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the community for their support and hard work.

The number of volunteers who came down during the course of the day to contribute their efforts far exceeded our expectations.

There were numerous people who stayed and worked for the entire day.

The painting team, under the guidance of Graeme Wood, did a fantastic job of painting the entrance gate and palisade fencing, and the team that repaired the playground equipment must be commended for their hard work.

The combined efforts of everyone made a dramatic difference to both the appearance and cleanliness of our only heritage site in Edenvale.

Special mention must be made of our sponsors: Carol Rogers for amending the entrance banner; Yvonne Myles for the poster artwork; Post Net Eastgate for the laminated posters; Builders Homewarehouse Meadowdale /Charl Deem for their generous discount; Cathy Ogiers for undercoat; De Bakery for bread rolls; Henry Sole for crisps; Legends Hire /Paul Jukes for generators; Erna Woest and Shirley Puljevic for donations received.

To our councillors, Heather Hart and Bill Rundle, thank you for your ongoing, unconditional support and to EMM for the supply of electricity on the day.

We launched the crafters market on the day and there were numerous stall holders who were successful in selling their homemade wares.

We strongly urge the community to continue to support these crafters who will host the market at the grounds on the second Sunday morning of each month.

Friends of Horwood’s Farm work at the grounds between 9am and 12-noon on the second Saturday of each month and we look forward to working with the numerous members of the community who offered their assistance on an ongoing basis.
