Lost licence found

During that time a lot of things started going through my mind of how car registrations are being duplicated, incorrect e-toll billing and so forth.

EDITOR – On a recent Saturday morning, my family and I went to the Greenstone Shopping Centre for a normal day’s shopping as well as to renew my son’s driver’s licence at the post office.

We renewed the licence at 9:33 and received the new one . At about 10:45am, before coming out of Panarottis, I handed the licence to my son as he was going to the car to pack items in the car.

A few minutes later he called me from the car park, asking me if I had his licence disc. It was at that stage I realised it was gone.

In a panic, I went went to the centre security and information desk to see if anyone had found it. At that stage there was nothing.

During that time a lot of things started going through my mind of how car registrations are being duplicated, incorrect e-toll billing and so forth.

I decided to report the incident and completed an affidavit at the Sebenza Police Station. While playing outside, my daughter went to the post box and pulled out a white paper. She handed it to her mother only to discover that it was the licence disk we had lost at the mall.

I don’t know who found it, but that person must have driven from the mall just to drop it off at our house in Deklerkshof.

Unfortunately, no contact details were left, but we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation towards this wonderful person and we hope that they will see our thanks in the paper. It is highly unusual but we are grateful that this person was there at the right time.

Good people are hard to come by, and just to note that we will pay-it-forward.
