Have your say – Readers talk about illegal ECD’s

Readers talk about illegal ECD’s.

How can the community and parents address concerns about illegal early childhood development centres in Malvern?

Liesel Walker:
“We do get a lot of ECD’s that are registered and you get some where the teachers are not enough. You find children with nappy rashes because of the quality of the crèche they take their children to. The teaching and the abuse is really disturbing. Some of the parents are not aware because the teachers convince parents to sign up for their children.”
Dudula Nomvezo:
“We tend to take our children to inappropriate ECD’s and complain when our children cone back without no knowledge. Parents must start looking at day care centres that are good for the future of the children.”
Rosemarie Proctor:
“There are many ECD’s in the area and children are being abused. The money factor is a big thing, but I feel like parents are being ignorant and they don’t care about their child’s wellbeing. These day care centres must be stopped and parents should refuse to take their children to such places.”
Mike Spadino:
“Parents need to check the legitimacy of an ECD centre prior to enrolling their children. It’s important to have knowledge about where you child will be well taught and being taken care of.”
