EDITOR – On behalf of ILKA and The Kensington Heritage Trust, I would like to convey our sincere thanks for the lovely article on our Heritage Event – The Foster Gang Centenary that appeared in the Joburg East Express.

On a personal note, I would also like to convey my sincere thanks for the article concerning myself that appeared on page 8.

Gavin's story, (his fight against Leukaemia), was written in the hope that it would serve as an inspiration to children and parents who currently find themselves in the same unenviable situation.

For the above reason, I would like to bring to your attention two errors which appear in the article, that will, I believe, have a considerable impact on the intended purpose of Gavin's story.

The second last paragraph states that Gavin died from Lymphocytic Leukaemia at the age of three.

Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) is one of the most common types of Leukaemia found in adults.

Gavin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) when he was three years of age. He did not die – in fact, he is in the process of arranging his wedding which will take place towards the end of this year
