Laughter, creativity and a display of artistry filled the air at Thornhill Manor retirement village during their annual Easter Bonnet Parade.
A beloved tradition, this year’s event, expertly arranged by the entertainment committee, saw residents showcasing an array of imaginative headwear, embodying the spirit of community and joyful engagement that lies at the heart of The Rand Aid Way philosophy.

The monthly tea morning, a highlight on the Thornhill Manor calendar that is headed up by Maggie Bold, was transformed into a runway of whimsical designs, ranging from the exquisitely delicate to the hilariously outlandish.
Maggie’s attention to detail extended beyond the parade itself, with stunning table decorations creating a festive atmosphere.
Her dedication and unwavering support were acknowledged by Jackie Scott, Thornhill Manor’s deputy manager, who lauded her efforts in making the event extra special.
A notable milestone this year was the participation of the first male entrant, Len Larson, who not only embraced the spirit of the event but also walked away with the prize for the ‘Most Creative’ hat.

Twelve enthusiastic contestants proudly paraded their creations before an appreciative audience.
Many participants are long-time supporters of the event, demonstrating remarkable ingenuity each year with new bonnets.
The judges faced a delightful challenge in selecting the winners, ultimately recognising the following outstanding creations:
• Most creative: Len Larson
• Funniest hat: Enid Dixon
• Prettiest hat: Vicky Keenan (also awarded ‘Most Appropriate Hat’).
