Mutilated body of a man found on Van Buuren Road offramp

Paramedics declared the patient deceased before the body was removed from the scene by Forensic Pathological Services.

The body of a pedestrian was found lying in the middle of the southbound N3.

The adult male’s body was discovered on October 9 near the Van Buuren Road offramp after the rescue team from the Bedfordview Fire Station received a call about the incident at 19:23.

According to Ekurhuleni’s media liaison for DEMS, William Ntladi, it is believed the deceased died on impact.

“The team responded swiftly to the scene.

“The mutilated body of the patient was found several meters away from the initial point of impact up the road,” said Ntladi.

He said scene safety was a priority. Multiple lanes were temporarily closed during the operation.

“Paramedics from Gauteng’s Provincial Government Ambulance Services also arrived on scene.

“They declared the patient deceased before the body was removed from the scene by Forensic Pathological Services,” said Ntladi.

The body was taken to Germiston.

Ntladi said that before the freeway was re-opened, CoE traffic officers had received the incident and started with on-scene investigations.
