Pastor Jose Pereira said the idea was to bring people out.

“We wanted to bring the community together, have fun and spend the day together.

“A lot of people are sitting with issues that they don’t even know who to talk to.

“So that’s why we also had the grief and trauma share.

“It was like getting you here, having fun and also having availability, that if you want to speak to somebody or want to pray you could do that,” said Pereira.

In addition to emotional support, the event offered free health screenings, including diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, and HIV testing and SANBS were on site for those who wanted to donate blood.

“A lot of times people around here, especially the older folks don’t have the resources for healthcare facilities so we’ve created this event to benefit them as well. They can get free testing.

“We wanted to ensure everyone has access to vital health services,” explained another pastor, Ziggy Moodley
The churches look forward to making this an annual event that will help to address the needs of the community.
