Road works on Van Buuren Road near N3 bridge underway

Subsurface drains will divert water to prevent further damage to the road and surrounding infrastructure.

Residents are cautioned of essential work on Van Buuren Road near the N3 Bridge.

This includes the installation of subsurface draining to address water management issues and the resurfacing of badly damaged sections of the road.

Work has already begun and is expected to continue for three weeks affecting traffic flow.

During this period, one lane will remain closed. Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and be mindful of the workers on site.

Roadworks are taking place on Van Buuren Road.

Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys explained that this project is being done to address long-standing issues with waterlogging and flooding in the area.

Subsurface drains will divert water to prevent further damage to the road and surrounding infrastructure.

Project manager Pine Pienaar confirmed that the team is working to install new concrete stormwater drains, ensuring that rainwater is directed properly away from the road surface.

Additionally, the area will be levelled to avoid future flooding.
