Entries now open for the best pavement in Bedfordview

Residents can enter their pavement or nominate a friend or neighbour’s pavement.

NPO Better Bedfordview has announced its fifth annual Best Pavements Competition.
Bedfordview residents are invited to enter.

The competition was launched to encourage residents to have clean, neat, pretty pavements, which enhance the area, explained Better Bedfordview chairperson Marina Constas.

“By entering the competition, residents can show their commitment to a clean, green, beautiful, safe area where property values grow and people are proud to live and work. They can also inspire others to take pride in their pavements.”

Residents can enter their pavement or nominate a friend or neighbour’s pavement.

There is a separate category for complexes.

The closing date for entries is November 20.

To enter, residents should email a photograph and the address of the pavement to info@betterbedfordview.org.za.

“This competition, which has gone from strength to strength since it was started, aims to uplift and beautify Bedfordview. Everyone can make a positive difference in our suburb by looking after their pavement.

“Studies show that criminals are deterred by a neat, well-maintained neighbourhood where community members are active and engaged and care about their environment,” Constas said.

The organisation is also looking for prize sponsors for this year’s competition.

Constas appealed to caring and community-minded businesses and residents to contribute a prize or voucher, and “show that your business cares about uniting and uplifting our community and making Bedfordview better”.
