Food and drink were aplenty at the various stands including traditional South African fare, some exotic Ethiopian eats and treats, Portuguese pregos, as well as a Halal stand to make sure everyone’s dietary requirements were catered to.

There was also a coffee shop and a pancake stand which was a hit with the crowd.

Entertainment on the day included the Jeppe Marimba Band, Doran the Magician, a range of dance schools who took to the stage and Morgan Beatbox and Miquel singing up a storm.

A new fixture to the entertainment line-up, Drum Busters, was a huge hit with young and old.

A craft market and expo area catered to those out to do a little shopping on the day. Here there was homemade jewellery, candles, pot plants and so much more to pique the interest of parents and kids alike.

A returning fixture at this year’s fun day was the car expo which drew attention from dads and moms equally adding a new caddie or electric vehicle to their wish lists.

“We are eternally grateful to them, and their families for the hard work they put into making the day a success,” added Hughes.

As part of Bedfordview Primary School’s strong belief in servicing its community, many NGOs and outreach programmes were hosted on the day, to draw attention to their work and need for volunteers and funding.

CPFs from Bedfordview and Primrose, as well as Safer City and Better Bedfordview, and many more were on hand to engage with those in attendance.

Bedfordview Primary School principal Greg Bryant said funds raised from the fun day will be used to expand the school hall which is finally coming to fruition after years of saving, and the extension of the school’s current water storage system.

“We know and believe that through continuous upgrades to our school, and its facilities, we can better service our community and raise bright stars for our future,” said Bryant.
