Quick-thinking officer rescues a beloved dog in Elma Park

The situation turned from good to bad when Marco’s beloved rescue dog, Luna, accidentally fell into an open manhole.

What started as a pleasant routine dog walk for Elma Park resident, Marco Bertamini, quickly turned into a nightmare.

The situation turned from good to bad when Marco’s beloved rescue dog, Luna, accidentally fell into an open manhole.

Marco frantically tried to rescue his beloved pet but to no avail.

At his wits’ end, he urgently reported the incident on the Elma Park community WhatsApp group.

The Fidelity ADT control room picked up the distress message and notified reaction officer Xolani Jingxi, who wasted no time rushing to the scene.

On arrival, Jingxi managed to safely retrieve the frightened dog from the manhole, reuniting the pet with its grateful owner.

“I am so grateful to officer Jingxi for all his help and the wonderfully calm manner in which he managed to save our frightened pet,” said Marco.

“I cannot thank him enough for all of his help and saving the day. What could have been a heartbreaking accident turned out so well in the end.”

Charnel Hattingh, the group head of marketing and communications for Fidelity ADT, said: “We are incredibly thankful for the quick response of Officer Jingxi, as well as the supportive neighbours who rallied together in a time of need.”
