Edenglen High shines at prestige athletics meet

The school's success at this meet is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes, coaches, and support staff.

Edenglen High School demonstrated their athletic prowess at a prestigious athletics meet held on August 21.

Edenglen High’s public relations and marketing coordinator Itumeleng Gwangwa said the school’s talented athletes brought home a haul of medals, showcasing their dedication and skill.

“The U16 relay boys teams were particularly impressive, with the A-team securing a silver medal and the B-team claiming bronze. Their teamwork and coordination were evident in their performance,” said Gwangwa.

Individually, Edenglen’s athletes continued to impress.

Thando Dira dominated the track, earning a silver medal in the 800m race and a gold medal in the 400m.

Ameenat Fagbemi was another star athlete. She secured gold medals in both the 100m and 200m. Her performance earned her the prestigious title of best girl senior sprinter.

Rorisang Merafe also contributed to the school’s medal tally with a bronze medal in the 100m and a silver medal in the 200m.

Khomotso Dolo secured a silver medal in the 1500m. Elvin Tiflin claimed gold in the 100m.

Ameenat Fagbemi was another star athlete, securing gold medals in both the 100m and 200m races.

Her performance earned her the prestigious title of best girl senior sprinter.
