Edenvale SAPS clamps down on unlawfulness in operation

Among the arrests made were 16 undocumented persons and five people suspected for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Arrests were made when Ekurhuleni police embarked on an operation to clamp down on unroadworthy vehicles and motorists driving under the influence.

Conducted on August 16 the operation was led by Edenvale SAPS’ Patrick Msimango, operational commander.

Communication officer for Edenvale Police Station, Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile said the operation’s multi-disciplinary team searched for contraband, illegal firearms and ammunition, dangerous weapons, drugs as well as motorists driving under the influence of alcohol.

The team was joined by the EMPD, crime prevention wardens, the Department of Home Affairs and security companies as well as community policing forum members.

“Among the arrests made were 16 undocumented persons and five people suspected for driving under the influence of alcohol.

“Traffic fines were also issued on the day,” said Mashile.

Edenvale SAPS warned criminals that there is no place to hide in Edenvale.

“The net will gradually close in on them.”

Mashile said Edenvale SAPS will conduct vehicle check-points throughout the precinct in an effort to combat crime.

Management of Edenvale SAPS thanked all the stakeholders who participated in the operation.
