Bushcraft workshop held at Modderfontein Reserve on August 31

“Trees have an aesthetically beautiful and calming influence.”

Modderfontein Conservation Society invites community members to an educational talk about bushcraft.
The talk will be at the education centre in the Modderfontein Reserve at 14:00 on August 31.

MCS will host an Arbor Week presentation on trees of the Savanna Biome, with emphasis on those of the Kruger National Park.

Sharing this fascinating aspect of bushcraft will be Sakkie van Aswegan, a highly experienced field guide.

Sakkie is the founder and owner of Bushveld Training Adventures and has been involved with the presentation of environmental courses for more than 30 years.

He acquired his expertise and experience through guiding and training in places such as Madikwe, Pilanesberg and the Kruger National Park.

“Trees have an aesthetically beautiful and calming influence,” said Sakkie.

“They provide us with food, shelter, and shade. As nature’s air conditioners, they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.

“My talk will deal with the most common trees of the Savanna Biome, but more specifically those of the Kruger National Park.”

Sakkie’s credentials include an M.Sc. and B.Ed. degree and many extra field guide-related qualifications.
The conservation society welcomes community members to attend the talk.
