Women spearhead a multi-disciplinary operation in Edenvale

The operation was led by SAPS in partnership with crime prevention wardens, Edenvale CPF and metro police.

A multi-disciplinary roadblock in Edenvale, led by women in law enforcement, saw numerous vehicles stopped and searched.

On August 7, vehicle checkpoints were conducted by Edenvale SAPS and stakeholders on Linksfield and Elm roads.

According to Sergeant Malesela Bopape, Edenvale SAPS’ social crime prevention coordinator, 75 vehicles were stopped and searched.

The operation was led by SAPS in partnership with crime prevention wardens, Edenvale CPF and metro police.

One law enforcement agent said, “It shows that as women, we are proud to serve in law enforcement and not only making sure our roads are safe but also our communities.”

Some of the women officers who took part in the vehicle checkpoint operation on August 7.

“Motorists were thrilled with the operation that occurred,” said Bopape

“Most appreciated the purpose of the operation and said it shows women continue to take a leading role in protecting their communities.”

Edenvale SAPS management thanked all role players involved.
