Edenvale SAPS together with other stakeholders conducted a search at Dowerglen High School on July 29.
The SAPS were joined by Iron Hide Security Company and NPO You Are Not Alone, (YANA).
According to Edenvale Police Station’s communication officer Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, the unannounced search came as a surprise to the learners.

Four-hundred learners from all the grades were searched.
“SAPS and stakeholders searched for dangerous weapons and illegal substances that learners were suspected to be carrying to school on a daily basis,” said Mashile.
He said no illicit items or substances were found at the school.
The principal of Dowerglen High School was pleased with how the search went.
She begged her learners not to carry weapons to the school as that may cause harm to other learners.
