Three men caught for armed robbery by Bedfordview police

“Members were on patrol when the victim stopped them, telling them he had been robbed at gunpoint and giving the suspects’ description."

Three suspects were caught and arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm, armed robbery and possession of stolen goods.

On July 29, the Bedfordview Crime Prevention Unit members patrolled known hotspots, including Kloof, Norman and Douglas roads.

The patrolling was part of a strategic approach based on a recent crime pattern analysis, which identified these areas as prone to house and armed robberies.

“Members were on patrol when the victim stopped them, telling them he had been robbed at gunpoint and giving the suspects’ description.

“The SAPS Crime Prevention Unit members took the victim with them and drove towards the direction when they drove along Van Buuren Road.

“The victim pointed to the suspects – three African males walking towards a silver Toyota Quest parked on the side of the road under the trees,” explained the communication liaison officer of the Bedfordview SAPS, Sergeant Lillian Modiga.

The suspects were apprehended. Upon searching them, the police discovered a silver 9mm pistol with a magazine, the victim’s bag loaded with cellphones, and a wallet with cash and bank cards.
