Holy Rosary Primary and High School learners excitedly and joyfully embraced the spirit of Mandela Day with acts of service for the community.

Kenda Knowles, the school’s marketing manager, said each grade in the primary school had a particular day to make sandwiches, which were delivered to the Khanyisa kitchen at the Methodist Church in Edenvale.

Each girl decorated their sandwich packet and added a chocolate to make it a special treat.

The high school learners from Holy Rosary made soup packets that contained various ingredients to create a nutritious and delicious meal. Seen here are Lee Lee Guan, Amarachi Obiedelu, Madison Meyer and Kendall Jackson.

In total, the primary school learners made 2 000 sandwiches.

Knowles said the high school learners made soup packets that contained various ingredients to create a nutritious and delicious meal. They created 275 soup packets and a few boxes of extra food.

The food parcels the high school learners made will go to Bet on Better.

Knowles said the NPO helps various community action networks in Gauteng and the North West by providing food parcels and blankets.
