Little Eden residents have fun on Mandela Day

Community members were welcomed with open arms when they visited the Little Eden Society for Mandela Day.
On July 18, community members and businesses visited the NPO to give back for 67 minutes.
According to the society’s public relations and communications co-ordinator, Gaahele Mokgoro, this year’s theme, Early Childhood Development, Food Security, and Just Cities, underscores the NPO’s commitment to nurturing growth, ensuring well-being and fostering community support.

Visitors were encouraged to donate disposable nappies, soft cereals for the residents, or second-hand items for the Little Eden’s charity shop.
The visitors and residents engaged in various activities, including maintenance work, gardening, sorting donations in the charity shop’s depot and engaging in limited therapy activities with some residents.

The CEO of Little Eden, Xelda Rohrbeck, said the day went well and was positive, adding that many residents and businesses visited them.
“The visitors and residents had much fun doing different activities together,” said Rohrbeck.

She said one of the great things about Mandela Day was the staff’s ability to join in on the day’s festivities.
“It brings us all closer together and raises morale,” said Rohrbeck.
