Ekurhuleni team ready for Gauteng champs
The Ekurhuleni team is gearing up for the Gauteng championships this coming weekend in Pretoria.
At least 11 boxers were selected to represent Ekurhuleni at the Gauteng championships.
The boxers will contest against other provinces in Pretoria from July 13 to 28.
JP du Plooy, Karien Els and Kiara Kilfoil will represent the Alberton Boxing Club, and their coach, Gert de Klerk, will join them.
Sean Martins, the team manager, said he was confident they would bring home an impressive win because they have a strong team.
“The team of Ekurhuleni will go to the Gauteng championships, which will be done over three weekends.
It will be on a round-robin basis, where all boxers will box against each other in each weight division. How the boxers get determined to go through is based on their current fighting records,” he said.
