Children’s Fun Corner in Bedfordview Library reaches a milestone

“Each month brings a new theme, carefully curated to spark imagination and learning,”

Bedfordview residents and Ward 20 committee members Vis and Mona Naidoo, in collaboration with Bedfordview Library, marked a significant milestone as they celebrated the first anniversary of their Children’s Fun Corner.

The free monthly event has become a cornerstone of community engagement, drawing children and parents alike from Bedfordview and surrounding areas.

“The Children’s Fun Corner is a vibrant celebration of literature and creativity, where children delve into the magic of books through reading sessions, storytelling, singing, dancing, and a host of engaging activities.

“Each month brings a new theme, carefully curated to spark imagination and learning,” said Vis and Mona.

For the anniversary celebration, the theme was a lively Mexican Fiesta with colourful decorations, a pinata filled with sweets, traditional music and themed activities that captivated young participants.

The free monthly event has become a cornerstone of community engagement, drawing children and parents alike from Bedfordview and surrounding areas.

Reflecting on the journey over the past year, Vis and Mona Naidoo expressed their joy at the event’s growth.

“From seven children and their parents at our first gathering, we now see an average of 45 attendees each month.

“It’s heart-warming to witness the community’s embrace of this initiative,” shared the pair.

“The Children’s Fun Corner has become a highlight of the month.

“Parents have shared the joy and excitement it brings to their children, as young ones look forward to dressing up and immersing themselves in each month’s theme,” they added.

The atmosphere at the anniversary celebration was filled with laughter and camaraderie as children dressed up in vibrant Mexican attire and participated in interactive storytelling activities.

The initiative aims to create a space where learning is fun and where every child feels welcomed.

Looking ahead, the Naidoos and the Bedfordview Library team are excited about the future of the Children’s Fun Corner.

“Our goal is to continue fostering a love for books and learning in children.

They meet on the first Saturday of each month.
